SASSA JULY 2026 GRANT PAYMENT DATES: Full Schedule Confirmed Older Persons, Disability, Children’s Grants and SRD

Money & Market

PRETORIA, 12 June 2026-The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the official payment dates for all social grants in July 2026, giving the country’s approximately 27 million beneficiaries advance notice to plan their monthly budgets.

Payments will be staggered across the first week of the month, following the agency’s standard three-day rollout cycle designed to reduce overcrowding at ATMs, pay points and retailers.

July 2026 Payment Schedule

Grant Type Payment Date Day
Older Persons Grant & War Veterans Grant 2 July 2026 Thursday
Disability Grant & Care Dependency Grant 3 July 2026 Friday
Child Support Grant, Foster Child Grant & Grant-in-Aid 6 July 2026 Monday
SRD R370 Grant (Covid-19 Relief) 21–31 July 2026 Individual batches

Children’s grants are scheduled for Monday, 6 July — rather than the fourth or fifth of the month — because both those dates fall on a weekend. SASSA does not process payments on weekends, so the date automatically moves to the next working day.

“Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed. There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day.” — SASSA

SRD R370 Grant: Individual Payment Windows

The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant operates on a separate schedule. Unlike permanent grants, SRD payments are not released on a single fixed date.

Approved applicants each receive a personal payment window falling between 21 and 31 July 2026. Beneficiaries are advised to check their specific payment date by logging on to the official SRD status portal at srd.sassa.gov.za.

The SRD grant, currently set at R370 per month, remains in effect until March 2026 as per National Treasury’s allocation of R33.6 billion for the 2025/26 fiscal year, with extensions subject to further government confirmation.

Current Grant Amounts — Effective April 2026

All major grants were increased in April 2026. The following amounts are in effect for July 2026:

Grant Monthly Amount (from April 2026)
Older Persons Grant R2 400
Disability Grant R2 400
Care Dependency Grant R2 400
War Veterans Grant R2 420
Foster Child Grant R1 290
Child Support Grant R580
Grant-in-Aid R580
SRD (Social Relief of Distress) Grant R370

Urgent: SASSA Gold Card Deadline — 31 August 2026

Postbank has issued an urgent reminder that all beneficiaries still using the older SASSA Gold Card must replace it with the new Postbank Black Card before 31 August 2026.

With only two payment cycles remaining before the deadline, Postbank has stated categorically that this deadline will not be extended.

Postbank Chief Commercial Officer Thami Cele warned that beneficiaries who have not made the switch by the deadline will be unable to access their grant payments until they obtain a new card.

The card swap is free of charge and available at designated Postbank branches across all provinces — not at Post Office branches, which no longer serve Black Card holders.

Key points for beneficiaries replacing their card:

  • Cards can be collected in any province, regardless of where the grant was approved.
  • Postbank Black Cards are active immediately upon issue — no need to visit a SASSA office afterwards.
  • Any balance remaining on the Gold Card will automatically transfer to the new Black Card.
  • The genuine Postbank Black Card displays the word ‘Postbank’ on the front. Any card without this marking is a scam — do not accept it.
  • No forms are required for the replacement. If asked to sign a form, refuse and contact Postbank on 0800 5354 55.

How to Collect Your Grant

Beneficiaries with Postbank Black Cards can access their grants at:

  • SASSA-designated ATMs
  • Major retail partners (Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers, etc.)
  • Selected Postbank branches (not Post Office branches)

Beneficiaries are strongly encouraged to avoid collecting on the first payment day to reduce queues and congestion. Funds remain safely in accounts and can be accessed at any time after the payment date.

Scam Alert: Protect Your Grant

SASSA has reiterated its warning against social grant fraud. Beneficiaries should never share their PIN, personal information or bank details with anyone claiming to represent SASSA or Postbank via phone, WhatsApp or social media.

SASSA will never ask for payment in exchange for grant processing.

Report suspected fraud or scams to the SASSA fraud hotline: 0800 60 10 11 (toll-free).
