Dangote Refinery Aims for Full Production Within a Month

Money & Market

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is on track to reach full production capacity within the next 30 days, according to the Vice President of Dangote Industries.

The refinery is currently operating at 85% of its 650,000 barrels per day capacity, which translates to 550,000 bpd.

The Vice President indicated that the facility could reach 100% capacity in 30 days. Another official from the Dangote Group had previously indicated that full capacity was expected by June 2025.

It remains unclear what the refinery’s primary source of crude oil is, especially considering the limited supply within Nigeria.

The Dangote Refinery, located in Lagos, is Africa’s largest refinery and began processing crude into products like diesel, naphtha, and jet fuel in January of last year.

The refinery is designed to handle 100% Nigerian crude and can also process most African crude grades, as well as Middle Eastern and US Light tight oil.

Dangote Refinery has the capacity to meet 100% of Nigeria’s demand for refined products and also have a surplus for export.

The refinery has a self-sufficient marine facility capable of handling the largest vessels and can load 2,900 trucks a day at its truck-loading gantries.

All products from the refinery are designed to conform to Euro V specifications.
