SASSA Begins April 2026 Old Age Grant Payments Today

Money & Market

The South African Social Security Agency has officially commenced payments for the Old Age Grant today, Thursday, April 2, 2026, bringing relief to millions of elderly beneficiaries across the country.

According to the agency’s April payment schedule, older persons are the first to receive their grants, with disbursements starting today before other categories follow in the coming days.

Disability grants and child support grants are expected to be paid shortly after.

SASSA has reiterated that beneficiaries do not need to rush to withdraw their funds immediately, as the money will remain safely in their accounts once deposited.

This approach is aimed at reducing overcrowding at payment points and ensuring a safer collection process.

Payments are being made through various channels, including bank accounts, SASSA cards, and designated cash collection points.

However, the exact time funds reflect may vary depending on the recipient’s banking institution.

The monthly grant payments continue to play a critical role in supporting vulnerable households, particularly older persons who rely on the funds for essential needs such as food, healthcare, and basic living expenses.

SASSA has encouraged beneficiaries to stay informed through official communication channels and to remain vigilant against scams related to grant payments.
