Zomato to Rebrand as ‘Eternal’ in a Bold Expansion Move

In a significant rebranding move, Indian food delivery giant Zomato has announced its decision to rename the company as “Eternal Ltd.” The change is part of a broader strategy to reflect its expanding business beyond food delivery.

The company, which started as a restaurant discovery and food delivery platform, has since ventured into multiple sectors, including Blinkit (quick-commerce), Hyperpure (kitchen supplies for restaurants), and District (live events).

The new name, Eternal Ltd., aims to encompass these diverse services under a single corporate identity.

The rebranding decision is subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals. If approved, Zomato’s corporate website will transition from Zomato.com to Eternal.com, and its stock ticker will change from ZOMATO to ETERNAL.

Despite the name change at the corporate level, the company reassured customers that the Zomato brand will continue to exist as the face of its food delivery business.

Deepinder Goyal, Zomato’s founder and CEO, emphasized that the shift represents the company’s long-term vision. “We are evolving beyond just food delivery.

With Blinkit, Hyperpure, and District, we are creating an ecosystem that caters to multiple consumer needs. ‘Eternal’ reflects our ambition to build something timeless,” he stated.

This move aligns with a trend seen among tech giants expanding beyond their original focus. Similar rebrands in recent years include Facebook’s transition to Meta and Google’s reorganization under Alphabet.

As Zomato moves towards its new identity, industry analysts predict the rebranding will help the company position itself as a diversified digital services provider, rather than solely a food delivery business.

Shareholders and consumers will now await further details on the official transition timeline.

What This Means for Users

For regular Zomato users, the food delivery service will continue as usual. The Zomato app and brand will remain unchanged for ordering food, while Eternal Ltd. will serve as the overarching corporate entity managing the company’s various business verticals.

With this transformation, Zomato aims to solidify its place in India’s fast-growing digital services landscape, ensuring its brand remains relevant and adaptable for the future.
