The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the official payment dates for social grants in October 2025, ensuring that millions of beneficiaries across the country can plan ahead.
According to the schedule, payments will once again be staggered to reduce congestion at pay points and provide a smoother collection process.
SASSA has confirmed the following dates for October:
Old Age and War Veterans Grants – Thursday, 2 October 2025
Disability Grants – Friday, 3 October 2025
Child Support, Foster Care, Care Dependency and Other Grants – Monday, 6 October 2025
The agency stressed that beneficiaries do not need to rush on the first day, as funds remain available after the official payment date.
Grants can be accessed through a variety of collection methods, including:
Direct Bank Deposits for those with registered bank accounts.
Retail Outlets such as Shoprite, Checkers, Boxer, Usave, and Pick n Pay.
ATMs linked to SASSA cards for easy withdrawals.
Post Office branches and mobile pay points, particularly in rural and remote areas.
SASSA has reminded the public of several key points for October:
Biometric enrolment is now mandatory for all new applications.
Beneficiaries must ensure their banking details are up to date to avoid payment delays.
A valid South African ID must be presented at collection points.
The agency continues to encourage the use of bank accounts and retailers to reduce queues at Post Office branches.
SASSA emphasized that beneficiaries should not feel pressured to collect their grants on the very first day.
“Funds will remain in the account until withdrawn,” the agency said, urging the public to collect at their convenience to avoid long waiting times.
2 October – Old Age and War Veterans
3 October – Disability
6 October – Child Support and other grants
With this schedule in place, SASSA aims to ensure a smooth and efficient payment process for all beneficiaries during the month of October.
