Western Power has taken a significant step towards transforming Western Australia’s energy infrastructure by awarding a $270 million contract to GenusPlus Group Ltd.
The agreement focuses on the Clean Energy Link – North Region project, a critical initiative designed to bolster the electricity grid’s capacity and enable a greater integration of renewable energy.
The Clean Energy Link project aims to enhance transmission capacity across Western Australia’s Wheatbelt and Mid West regions.
By facilitating the flow of renewable energy into the grid, the project supports the state’s ambitious goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Work on the project is set to begin in January 2025, with completion expected by mid-2027.
The Clean Energy Link is part of Western Australia’s broader strategy to invest in renewable energy infrastructure. Since 2017, the state government has allocated $5.7 billion to initiatives aimed at modernizing the grid and supporting the transition to sustainable energy sources.
By unlocking renewable energy resources in the south-west region, the project will play a pivotal role in meeting growing energy demands while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Western Power’s CEO described the initiative as a cornerstone of the state’s renewable energy strategy, stating, “This project is essential to delivering cleaner, more reliable energy to homes and businesses across Western Australia.”
GenusPlus Group Ltd., a leading provider of power and telecommunications infrastructure, brings extensive expertise to the project.
The company has a longstanding partnership with Western Power and a track record of delivering major energy projects nationwide.
In addition to this contract, GenusPlus recently secured a $140 million agreement with Ausgrid for sub-transmission line works in the Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone in New South Wales. These projects highlight the company’s commitment to supporting Australia’s energy transition.
