Temporary Donut Shortage Hits Dunkin’ Locations in the U.S.

Fans of Dunkin’ may find themselves disappointed at certain locations across Nebraska and New Mexico as a temporary donut shortage sweeps through the region.

The issue, which has left shelves bare of the brand’s iconic pastries, stems from a manufacturing error and ongoing supply chain disruptions. According to Dunkin’ representatives, the shortage is impacting approximately 4% of its U.S. stores.

Dunkin’—known for its coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and, of course, donuts—has assured customers that the problem is being addressed.

“We are working diligently to restock affected locations as quickly as possible,” a spokesperson said. Efforts are underway to resolve the issue, with the company expecting operations to normalize soon.

The shortage comes as Dunkin’ continues to emphasize its broader menu offerings, following its 2018 rebranding from Dunkin’ Donuts to simply Dunkin’. Despite the name change, donuts remain a staple for the chain and a source of delight for its loyal customers.

Local patrons have expressed frustration, with many taking to social media to share their disappointment.

“Dunkin’ without donuts just doesn’t feel right,” wrote one customer on Twitter. Others noted that while coffee and breakfast items remain available, the absence of donuts creates a gap in their usual Dunkin’ experience.

Industry analysts point to broader challenges in the food and beverage sector, including supply chain bottlenecks, labor shortages, and increased costs for raw materials, as potential contributing factors.

For now, customers in the affected areas may need to explore other breakfast options or simply savor Dunkin’s coffee until the donuts make their much-anticipated return.
