SASSA Warns Beneficiaries: No Double Grant Payments Confirmed

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has issued a stern warning to beneficiaries and the public to ignore social media rumours claiming that a double grant payment will be made in November 2025.

In a statement shared across its official channels, SASSA dismissed the circulating posts on X (formerly Twitter) suggesting that social grant recipients would receive two payments this mont

h. The agency clarified that no such directive or policy has been approved, urging the public to rely only on verified information from official sources.

Fake Social Media Posts Spark Confusion

Over the past week, several misleading posts have gone viral on social media, claiming that SASSA was planning a “double payment week” starting on 25 October 2025.

The posts prompted confusion among grant beneficiaries, many of whom rely on these funds for essential living expenses.

SASSA has since clarified that the claims are completely false, warning that misinformation of this nature can cause unnecessary panic and lead to long queues at pay points.

“We have not announced any double payment or additional disbursement for November. All official updates are published on SASSA’s verified platforms,” the agency stated.

Official Payment Dates Remain Unchanged

The agency confirmed that the November 2025 grant payment schedule remains the same as previously announced. Below is the official payment timetable:

Grant Type Payment Date (November 2025)
Older Persons Grant Monday, 4 November 2025
Disability Grant Tuesday, 5 November 2025
Children’s Grant Wednesday, 6 November 2025

SASSA reiterated that beneficiaries do not need to rush to withdraw their grants on the first payment day, as funds will remain in their accounts until withdrawn.

Public Urged to Beware of Scams

The agency urged South Africans to remain vigilant against fake news and online scams targeting grant recipients. Fraudsters often use false payment promises to trick people into sharing personal or banking information.

SASSA reminded beneficiaries that legitimate announcements will always come from its official website, verified social media accounts, or through national media channels.

“We advise the public to ignore unverified messages and avoid clicking on links shared by unknown sources,” the agency added.

Commitment to Transparency

SASSA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparency and ensuring timely, accurate communication about grant payments.

The agency continues to collaborate with law enforcement and social media platforms to track and remove fake accounts spreading misinformation.

Key Takeaway

There will be no double grant payment in November 2025. Beneficiaries are encouraged to follow official SASSA platforms for updates and report any suspicious information.
