Money & Market

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the SASSA payment dates for 2025, starting with the schedule for May.

Beneficiaries are advised to take note of the dates to ensure they receive their grants without delays.

SASSA Payment Dates for May 2025

The official SASSA payment dates for May 2025 are as follows:

  • Older Persons’ Grant: Tuesday, 6 May 2025

  • Disability Grant: Wednesday, 7 May 2025

  • Children’s Grant: Thursday, 8 May 2025

Funds will be made available on the specified dates and will remain in the accounts until beneficiaries are ready to withdraw them. There is no need to rush to payment points immediately.

SASSA Payment Structure for 2025/2026

SASSA has confirmed that the SASSA payment dates for 2025 will continue to follow a structured three-day cycle each month:

  • Day 1: Older Persons’ Grants

  • Day 2: Disability Grants

  • Day 3: Children’s Grants and all remaining grants

This system is intended to improve service delivery and manage the flow of beneficiaries at pay points across the country.

Important Updates for SASSA Beneficiaries

  • New Postbank Black Card: Beneficiaries currently using the gold SASSA card must switch to the Postbank black card by 31 May 2025. Gold cards will be deactivated after this deadline and will no longer be valid for transactions.

  • Fraud Awareness: SASSA continues to caution beneficiaries against scams. Beneficiaries should not share their PINs, banking details, or personal information with anyone claiming to represent SASSA.

  • Checking Payment Status: Beneficiaries can verify their payment details through the SASSA website, the Moya App (data-free), the USSD service, or the SASSA WhatsApp channel.
