The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has issued an important public notice regarding the January 2026 COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant.
According to SASSA, some beneficiaries may currently be unable to view their SRD application outcomes and payment statuses on the official SRD website. The agency has confirmed that the issue is technical in nature and is already receiving urgent attention.
SASSA stated that:
The January 2026 SRD results and payment status are temporarily not reflecting online.
The system issue is expected to be fully resolved by Friday, 30 January 2026.
Once fixed, beneficiaries will be able to check their status as usual on the SRD portal.
The agency also extended an apology for any inconvenience caused, assuring applicants that the problem does not affect eligibility decisions or approved payments.
SASSA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that social assistance reaches the right people at the right time, and urged beneficiaries to remain patient while technical teams finalise the resolution.
Recipients are advised to avoid unnecessary panic and to continue monitoring official SASSA communication channels for confirmation once the system is fully restored.
