SASSA Confirms February 2025 Grant Payment Dates

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially announced the payment schedule for social grants in February 2025.

Millions of beneficiaries across the country rely on these grants for financial support, and the agency has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a smooth and timely disbursement process.

Payment Schedule

The payment dates for February 2025 are as follows:

  • Older Persons Grant: Tuesday, 4 February 2025.
  • Disability Grant: Wednesday, 5 February 2025.
  • Child Support and Foster Child Grants: Thursday, 6 February 2025.
  • Care Dependency Grant: Wednesday, 5 February 2025.
  • War Veterans Grant: Tuesday, 4 February 2025.

These dates are staggered to prevent overcrowding at collection points and ensure efficient service delivery.

Grant Amounts

The grant amounts remain unchanged for February:

  • Older Persons (60–74 years): R2,190; (75+ years): R2,210.
  • Disability Grant: R2,190.
  • Child Support Grant: R530.
  • Foster Child Grant: R1,180.
  • Care Dependency Grant: R2,190.
  • War Veterans Grant: R2,210.

Collection Methods

Beneficiaries can collect their payments through various channels:

  1. Direct deposits into bank accounts.
  2. SASSA Gold Cards at ATMs or participating retailers such as Pick n Pay and Boxer stores.
  3. Post Office branches for those without bank accounts.

Updates and Challenges

While most beneficiaries are expected to receive their grants without issues, SASSA has addressed concerns over frozen accounts linked to Ithala SOC Bank.

Emergency measures in partnership with First National Bank (FNB) have been put in place to assist affected individuals.

Furthermore, the agency continues to encourage beneficiaries to update their banking details to avoid delays.

As the cost of living rises, many South Africans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of potential grant increases in April 2025.

SASSA has also faced calls to revert grant payments to the first day of each month, a practice discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beneficiaries are urged to adhere to the specified payment dates and contact SASSA directly for any assistance or inquiries regarding their grants.
