SASSA Announces December 2024 Grant Payment Dates

In preparation for the festive season, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially announced the payment dates for December 2024.

This announcement is set to benefit millions of South Africans who rely on social grants for essential support.

Payment Schedule

  • Older Persons Grants: Payments will commence on Tuesday, 3 December 2024.
  • Disability Grants: Payments will follow on Wednesday, 4 December 2024.
  • Children’s Grants: Payments will be available from Thursday, 5 December 2024.

Early Payments for SRD Grants

To ease financial pressures during the holiday period, SASSA has introduced early payments for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant. These payments are scheduled between 17 and 23 December 2024. The initiative aims to ensure that beneficiaries have access to their funds in time for holiday-related expenses.

Accessing Payments

Grant beneficiaries can receive their payments through various channels, including:

  • Bank transfers
  • Post offices
  • Cash-in-transit points

SASSA urges beneficiaries to ensure their contact information is up to date and to use official communication channels to confirm details.

A Message from SASSA

In a statement, SASSA emphasized its commitment to ensuring timely payments and providing support during the festive season. Beneficiaries are encouraged to plan ahead and avoid last-minute withdrawals to prevent overcrowding at collection points.

Contact for Assistance

For any inquiries or assistance with grants, beneficiaries can visit their local SASSA offices or the official SASSA website. SASSA also reminds recipients to remain vigilant against scams and fraudsters claiming to offer assistance with payments.

This announcement reflects SASSA’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable communities across South Africa, particularly during this critical time of year.
