Ryanair has officially announced the launch of direct flights from Edinburgh to Porto, Portugal, set to commence in the summer of 2025.
This new route will operate four times a week, providing travelers with convenient access to one of Europe’s most vibrant cities.
Starting this summer, passengers can enjoy a seamless connection between Scotland’s capital and Porto, known for its stunning riverfront views and rich cultural heritage.
The city is famed for its Port wine cellars and historic architecture, making it a popular destination for tourists seeking both relaxation and adventure.
Ryanair’s expansion comes as part of its broader summer schedule, which includes a total of 72 routes across Europe. The airline aims to enhance travel options despite operational challenges in other regions, focusing on increasing its presence in Portugal. Porto will benefit from a significant investment, with Ryanair basing 12 aircraft in the city and creating over 4,600 jobs.
Tourists visiting Porto can explore its picturesque cobblestone streets and iconic bridges, as well as indulge in wine tastings at renowned cellars such as Graham’s and Sandeman.
The city serves as a gateway to the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site celebrated for its stunning vineyards and winemaking traditions.
With competitive pricing and frequent flights, Ryanair is poised to make Porto an accessible destination for travelers from Edinburgh. As summer approaches, the anticipation for this new route is building, promising unforgettable experiences in one of Portugal’s most enchanting locales.
