Qantas Announces Major Overhaul of Frequent Flyer Program

Qantas has unveiled sweeping changes to its Frequent Flyer program, introducing new benefits and adjustments aimed at enhancing value for its loyal members.

These updates include a significant increase in reward seats, improved points-earning potential, and changes to points requirements for redemptions.

More Reward Seats

In a move to provide more opportunities for members to redeem points, Qantas is adding one million additional Classic Reward seats across 100 domestic routes.

This includes expanded availability in premium cabins and on flights operated by new global airline partners such as Finnair, Air France, KLM, Iberia, and Hawaiian Airlines.

This expansion underscores the airline’s commitment to making travel more accessible for its Frequent Flyer members.

Enhanced Points Earning

Qantas is increasing the points earned on its domestic flights, with members set to gain up to 25% more points. Additionally, the airline is removing the points-earning cap for tiered members traveling in premium cabins.

This change is expected to result in nearly 4 billion extra points being distributed to members each year, further rewarding customer loyalty.

Lower Reward Fares for Economy Travelers

Jetstar, Qantas’ low-cost carrier, is introducing the lowest-ever one-way Economy reward seats in Australia. Members can now redeem as few as 5,700 points for short domestic routes, making it more affordable for budget-conscious travelers to take advantage of the Frequent Flyer program.

Adjusted Points Requirements

Starting August 2025, Qantas will increase the points required for Classic Reward seats and upgrades.

This marks the first adjustment since 2019, reflecting the rising costs and demand associated with loyalty rewards. While some members may find this change less favorable, Qantas assures its program remains competitive within the industry.

A Commitment to Loyalty

Markus Svensson, Qantas Group Chief Customer Officer, emphasized the airline’s dedication to rewarding its frequent flyers.

“These changes are designed to ensure long-term value for our members. By increasing points earning opportunities and expanding reward seat availability, we are providing even more ways for customers to make the most of their membership,” he said.

Customer Feedback Drives Changes

The overhaul comes after extensive feedback from Qantas’ Frequent Flyer members. The updates aim to strike a balance between maintaining program sustainability and addressing customer desires for more accessible and valuable rewards.

Looking Ahead

As the program evolves, Qantas’ Frequent Flyer members can look forward to enhanced travel planning flexibility and more options for redeeming their points.

The airline remains committed to delivering exceptional value to its loyal customer base, reaffirming its position as a leader in the aviation industry.

For more information, members are encouraged to visit Qantas’ official website or contact the Frequent Flyer program’s customer service.
