Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), a global leader in container shipping, has announced the launch of a new direct service aimed at improving connectivity between North West Continent (NWC) and West Africa.
The service, which began operations in late November 2024, introduces direct calls to Angola, Congo, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, marking a significant milestone for MSC’s operations in the region.
The new service is designed to provide faster transport options for dry, refrigerated (reefer), and project cargo, enhancing the flow of goods and fostering stronger trade links between Europe and West Africa. This direct connection is expected to streamline supply chains and reduce transit times for exporters and importers.

This new direct service complements MSC’s existing NWC to West Africa offerings, solidifying the company’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the region. In addition to this development, MSC has announced updates to its NWC to South Africa service and launched two new shuttle services to further improve connectivity in Southern and East Africa:
