Fareway to Open First Full-Sized Store in Kansas City Metro Area

Fareway Stores, Inc., a Midwest-based grocery chain, has announced plans to open its first full-sized store in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

If approved, the 21,000-square-foot Fareway Meat & Grocery store will be located in Basehor, Kansas, marking a significant milestone as the company expands its footprint into the state with a full-service concept.

This proposed store is expected to offer a comprehensive shopping experience, including Fareway’s signature fresh meat counter, a wide range of grocery items, and personalized customer service.

Currently, Fareway operates a Meat Market banner in Olathe, Kansas, but this new development would establish the company’s first full-service store in the region.

Expanding Into Kansas

The Basehor store represents Fareway’s entry into Kansas as the eighth state in its operational territory.

Fareway, headquartered in Boone, Iowa, currently operates 139 stores across seven states. This expansion aligns with the company’s strategic goals to bring its community-focused grocery model to new markets.
