$20 Million Boost: Inspired Evolution Supercharges East Africa’s Cold-Chain Revolution

Money & Market

East Africa’s food logistics landscape is set for a major transformation.

Inspired Evolution, a leading private equity firm, has announced a $20 million investment in Cold Solutions East Africa Holdings (CSEAHL), a top temperature-controlled warehousing operator in the region.

The move promises to modernize the way perishable goods are stored, transported, and delivered across East Africa.

The investment comes from Inspired Evolution’s Evolution III Fund, which focuses on next-generation energy and climate-resilient infrastructure projects.

By backing CSEAHL, the firm is not only fueling the growth of the cold-chain sector but also championing sustainable and energy-efficient logistics solutions.

CSEAHL, managed under the ARCH Cold Chain Solutions East Africa Fund (CCSEAF), already operates a flagship facility in Tatu City, Kenya.

The $20 million infusion will fast-track the construction of four new state-of-the-art cold storage hubs in Kampala, Kigali, Dar es Salaam, and Mombasa, creating a robust network that will reduce post-harvest losses and improve food security across the region.

“This is more than just an investment in infrastructure—it’s an investment in East Africa’s food future,” said a spokesperson for Inspired Evolution.

“By expanding cold-chain capacity, we’re enabling farmers, distributors, and retailers to minimize waste, maximize efficiency, and meet growing demand for fresh produce.”

Experts believe the initiative could redefine East Africa’s supply chain dynamics, making the movement of perishable goods faster, safer, and more reliable.

With the new facilities, businesses in the region will benefit from reduced spoilage, lower operational costs, and a more resilient food supply chain.

The move also signals a broader trend of impact-focused private equity in Africa, where investors are increasingly targeting projects that combine financial returns with social and environmental benefits.

Inspired Evolution’s commitment demonstrates how strategic funding can simultaneously tackle food insecurity, climate challenges, and economic growth.
