CenterPoint Energy Launches State-Specific Social Media Accounts to Enhance Customer Engagement

CenterPoint Energy, a leading utility company providing natural gas and electric services across multiple states, has launched state-specific social media accounts aimed at providing localized updates for customers in Texas, Indiana, Ohio, and Minnesota.

This new initiative marks a significant step in improving customer communication and engagement, ensuring that residents receive real-time information tailored to their respective regions.

The newly created accounts on X (formerly Twitter) are:

  • @CenterPoint_TX for Texas
  • @CenterPoint_IN for Indiana
  • @CenterPoint_OH for Ohio
  • @CenterPoint_MN for Minnesota

The launch of these state-specific accounts reflects CenterPoint Energy’s commitment to delivering personalized content that includes energy efficiency tips, local weather updates, outage notifications, and company news relevant to each state’s community.

Previously, customers received updates from a single, national account. Now, each account will cater to the unique needs of its state’s population, helping the utility company engage more effectively with customers.

Keith Stephens, Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer at CenterPoint Energy, explained that the move is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to better serve its diverse customer base.

“Listening to our customers and adapting how we communicate with them is a priority,” Stephens said. “By creating state-specific accounts, we can provide the kind of localized experience our customers want and need.”

The new accounts aim to build stronger relationships with customers by offering up-to-date information, especially during extreme weather events and outages.

Customers will be able to access relevant data on service disruptions, safety tips, and energy-saving advice specific to their geographic area.

Additionally, these accounts will feature community updates, enhancing the company’s presence in local neighborhoods.

Until the completion of the sale of natural gas assets in Louisiana and Mississippi, customers in those states will continue to receive updates via the main CenterPoint account, @CenterPoint.

The sale is expected to be finalized in the first quarter of 2025, after which further updates regarding customer communication strategies will be made.

This strategic initiative highlights CenterPoint Energy’s continued efforts to modernize its services and communication methods.

By focusing on localizing content, the utility company is aiming to further improve customer satisfaction and enhance its outreach programs, ensuring a more responsive and efficient service across its multi-state territory.

For more information or to follow the state-specific accounts, customers are encouraged to visit CenterPoint Energy’s official social media pages.
