Colombian flag carrier Avianca has submitted a request for authorization to launch a new direct flight route between El Dorado International Airport (BOG) in Bogotá and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
If approved, this would mark Avianca’s tenth route between Colombia and the United States, further strengthening its North American network.
The airline plans to operate the route with its fleet of Airbus A319, A320ceo, and A320neo aircraft, with the intention of offering up to one daily flight.
The new service aims to improve travel options for business and leisure passengers while increasing connectivity between South America and Texas, a key economic hub.
Currently, American Airlines is the only carrier providing direct flights on this route, operating a daily service using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
Avianca’s entry into the market would introduce competition and potentially provide more affordable fare options for travelers.
Avianca has been actively expanding its international operations as part of its broader growth strategy.
The airline continues to focus on strategic routes that enhance mobility and accessibility for passengers traveling between Latin America and the U.S.
Approval of the new Bogotá-Dallas route is still pending regulatory review.
If granted, the service is expected to commence in the coming months, further cementing Avianca’s presence in the U.S. market.
