Anduril Industries to Build Massive Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Ohio

Anduril Industries, a prominent U.S. defense contractor specializing in cutting-edge technologies, has announced plans to construct a groundbreaking advanced manufacturing facility in central Ohio.

Dubbed “Arsenal 1,” the 5-million-square-foot facility will be situated on a sprawling 500-acre site near Rickenbacker International Airport in Pickaway County, approximately 16 miles southeast of Columbus.

This ambitious project, set to begin operations in July 2026, is expected to create 4,000 jobs and will focus on the production of military drones and autonomous air vehicles.

The initiative represents a significant milestone in Ohio’s growing reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing and technology.

Largest Job Creation Project in Ohio’s History

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine lauded the project as the largest single job creation and payroll initiative in the state’s history.

“Ohio’s aerospace heritage and strategic location make it the perfect home for Anduril’s expansion,” DeWine said. “This facility is a testament to our commitment to fostering innovation and creating high-paying jobs.”

Anduril’s decision to invest in Ohio aligns with the state’s broader strategy to capitalize on its rich aerospace history and technological expertise.

The company’s new facility will bolster the region’s economy and enhance its status as a leader in advanced defense manufacturing.

Ohio’s Expanding “Silicon Corridor”

Arsenal 1 is part of a broader wave of transformative developments in Ohio’s “silicon corridor.”

The area has recently attracted several major investments, including Intel’s $20 billion semiconductor manufacturing plant east of Columbus and a $3.5 billion battery plant by Honda and LG Energy Solution in Fayette County.

Additionally, Ohio State University has announced plans to establish a $110 million software innovation center to support the region’s burgeoning tech ecosystem.

Public and Private Support

To support the construction and operation of the Arsenal 1 facility, Anduril Industries will seek financial incentives, including a job creation tax credit from the Ohio Department of Development, a grant from JobsOhio, and a $70 million investment from the All Ohio Future Fund.

These contributions aim to ensure the successful completion of the project while reinforcing Ohio’s attractiveness to high-tech companies.

Transforming Defense Manufacturing

Anduril’s expansion into Ohio underscores the company’s commitment to revolutionizing defense technology.

By leveraging automation and advanced manufacturing techniques, Arsenal 1 will play a pivotal role in producing state-of-the-art military drones and autonomous systems, addressing critical national security needs.

A Bright Future for Ohio

With the establishment of Arsenal 1, Ohio continues to cement its position as a leader in advanced manufacturing, innovation, and job creation.

The project not only reflects Anduril’s confidence in the state’s workforce and infrastructure but also highlights the potential for public-private partnerships to drive economic growth and technological advancement.

Construction is expected to begin soon, marking a new chapter in Ohio’s industrial resurgence and paving the way for the state’s continued leadership in aerospace and defense technologies.
