[divider style=”solid” top=”25″ bottom=”25″][dropcap]B[/dropcap]olloré Transport & Logistics and supply chain services company Czarnikow are collaborating to support Bolloré Transport & Logistics’ sustainable development in East Africa, through the VIVE Sustainable Supply Programme.

VIVE is designed to create fully sustainable supply chains in which all actors commit to sustainable improvement. Through its participation in this programme, Bolloré Transport & Logistics is strengthening its footprint as a player in fully sustainable trade.

Will Rook, head of VIVE, said, “The VIVE Programme is committed to supporting its participants in reaching their sustainability goals through third party verification and bespoke improvement plans. We are proud to be supporting Bolloré Transport & Logistics via our chain of custody module, developed to provide transparency on goods moving along the supply chain.”

As part of this continuous improvement sustainability programme, led by Czarnikow and Intellync, Bolloré Transport & Logistics in East Africa will benefit from a sustainability audit and a three-year improvement plan. Bolloré Transport & Logistics’ Kenyan and Tanzanian subsidiaries will take part in the programme.

Bolloré Transport & Logistics, which provides logistics and value-added warehousing services to various manufacturers in the food and beverage industry, is the only integrated logistics company in the East African region to subscribe to VIVE.

The VIVE programme that the company is joining will reinforce the company’s sustainability strategy.

In 2018, the logistics division of Bolloré Transport & Logistics launched its CSR strategy “Powering Sustainable Logistics” to address the ESG challenges of its business. This strategy, recognised by extra-financial rating agencies, has enabled the company to integrate measures to improve energy efficiency, develop low-carbon alternatives, and mobilise the company’s stakeholders.

Jason Reynard, CEO of Bollore Transport & Logistics, East Africa Region, said, “As a company, Bolloré Transport & Logistics is dedicated to continuously improve our operations with a view to address the current and future concerns of our clients and stakeholders, as well as emergent global issues in our industry. The VIVE program is therefore a suitable audit mechanism for our activities in East Africa, to check on our actions and create new benchmarks in our logistics offering to our key clients.”

VIVE is designed to create fully sustainable supply chains, with every participant in a trade committing sustainable improvement. This goal was reached last year, with the world’s first end to end sustainable sugar trade, facilitated by VIVE.

Logistics and warehousing form an essential part of any supply chain, thus empowering Bolloré Transport & Logistics to be part of fully sustainable trades in future. VIVE is a multi-commodity programme, recently expanding to include renewable energy and fruit, creating more opportunities for its participants.
