Veteran Radio Executive John Beck Departs iHeartMedia to Pursue New Ventures


After nearly four decades of shaping the radio industry, John Beck, a prominent figure in American broadcasting, has announced his departure from iHeartMedia, where he served as Market and Area President for St. Louis and Indianapolis.

Beck’s exit marks the end of a celebrated tenure, during which he significantly bolstered ratings, revenues, and team culture across key markets.

A Storied Career in Radio

Beck’s broadcasting journey began in Pittsburgh at WFFM and flourished through roles at CBS in Detroit and KKCI in Kansas City.

He cemented his legacy in 1984 when he joined the St. Louis market as Senior Vice President and General Manager for KSHE and The Point.

Over the years, his innovative leadership earned him accolades such as the Distinguished Broadcaster Award from the Missouri Broadcasters Association and induction into the St. Louis Radio Hall of Fame.

Transitioning to New Horizons

With his departure from iHeartMedia, Beck is turning his attention to John Beck Media Strategies, a media consulting business he founded.

He also plans to continue his active engagement in legislative advocacy and charitable work, focusing on causes close to his heart.

“This is not a farewell to the radio industry but an opportunity to contribute in a different capacity,” Beck shared. “The relationships and experiences I’ve gained through iHeartMedia will remain invaluable as I embark on this next chapter.”
