Mango founder Isak Andic dies at 71 in tragic accident

Isak Andik, the founder of Mango-a global fashion brand based in Barcelona, known for its modern and stylish clothing, accessories, and footwear for men, women, and children has died. He was 71.

Born in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1953, Andic moved to Spain in his teenage years, where his family sought new opportunities. From humble beginnings, he built a career that would ultimately redefine the global retail landscape.

In 1984, he co-founded Mango in Barcelona, envisioning a brand that combined high-quality fashion with accessible pricing. His entrepreneurial flair and understanding of market trends transformed Mango into an internationally recognized name.

Under Andic’s leadership, Mango rapidly expanded, establishing a presence in more than 110 countries and boasting over 2,000 stores worldwide.

Andic’s philosophy of blending strategic vision with operational excellence was central to Mango’s success.

He was deeply involved in every aspect of the business, from product development to brand identity. In recent years, Andic stepped back from active management, taking on the role of non-executive chairman.

This allowed him to focus on mentoring future leaders within the company and ensuring Mango’s legacy endured.

Beyond his business achievements, Andic was a private individual known for his philanthropic endeavors and commitment to community development. He supported numerous educational initiatives and environmental causes, reflecting his belief in giving back to society.

Mango CEO Toni Ruiz expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the company’s founder, stating, “Isak was not just a visionary leader; he was an inspiration to all of us. His dedication to Mango and the values he instilled will forever guide us.”
