Amazon
Country: USA
Revenue: $42.7 billion
Growth: 34.1%

Amazon is now the second largest private employer in the USA, with 566,000 employees. Originating as a modest online bookstore, the company has now spread to dominate a number of other industries. With Prime Air in the works, to ensure deliveries in under 30 minutes, they could be set to further revolutionize the logistics industry.

DHL Logistics
Country: Germany
Revenue: $33.4 billion
Growth: 8.6%

DHL move down from first place to rank as the second largest third-party Global Logistics Provider . With a 50 year history, they now operate in 220 countries with 380,000 global employees. DHL announced strong Q1 profits for 2019, with a surge in income likely resulting from their supply chain partnership with S.F. Holding in China, initiated in late 2018.

Kuehne + Nagel
Country: Switzerland
Revenue: $25.4 billion
Growth: 11.9%

It is one of the Global Logistics Providers. Kuehne + Nagel was formed as early as 1890 in Germany. They operate in more than 100 countries with 82,000 employees, generating an impressive $25.4 billion in revenue for 2018. The company is noted as the largest seafreight forwarder worldwide in the field of FCL and LCL.

DB Schenker Logistics
Country: Germany
Revenue: $19.5 billion
Growth: 9.8%

DB Schenker Logistics employs 75,800 people at over 2,000 locations worldwide. The company has soared in recent years thanks to its purchasing of BAX in 2006, Spain-Tar in 2007 and Rostrums in 2008. It is also one of the top Global Logistics ProvidersThey are prevalent in land logistics across Europe and recently launched the T-Pod, the first autonomous electric truck approved for commercial use on public roads.

Nippon Express
Country: Japan
Revenue: $18.2 billion
Growth: 11.1%Nippon was founded in Japan in 1932. It now operates in 33 countries with 36,000 employees worldwide. The company made headlines at the end of 2018 after launching a test run of a long distance cargo train service between China’s inland area and Europe. They are looking to support further investment into rail transport.

C.H. Robinson Worldwide
Country: USA
Revenue: $15.5 billion
Growth: 14.9%

Providing a service to more than 37,000 customers, C.H. Robinson is an old hat in the industry, formed in 1905. It brought in revenues of $15.5 billion throughout 2018 and prides itself as one of the most sustainable logistics firms.

DSV
Country: Denmark
Revenue: $12.5 billion
Growth: 10.2%

Founded 40 years ago, DSV operates in 75 countries with 47,000 employees. The company operates more than 20,000 trucks a day to deliver goods, as well as moving over 650,000 tons of air freight every year. It is also one of the top Global Logistics Providers.

XPO Logistics
Country: USA
Revenue: $11.8 billion
Growth: 14.2%

XPO was formed in 1989 as Express-1 Expedited Solutions and was purchased by Bradley solutions in 2011 which proved to be one of the biggest moments in its history, as it changed its name to XPO and began purchasing other logistics solutions. It now has a stronghold in the industry, bringing in $11.8 billion in 2018.

UPS Supply Chain Solutions
Country: USA
Revenue: $9.8 billion
Growth: 12.9%

Perhaps one of the best-known companies in the supply chain, UPS saw revenues of $9.8 billion throughout 2018. The business was founded in 1907, and joins the list of the oldest firms, as well as the top ten in terms of revenue. In the past year, the firm has been testing innovative methods of delivery, include drone delivery for vaccines in the US.

J.B. Hunt
Country: USA
Revenue: $8.2 billion
Growth: 20.3%

This North American company prides itself on serving a number of Fortune 500 manufacturers. Formed in Arkansas in 1960, it is now one of the biggest firms on the list, reaching a Top 10 listing after a growth of 20.3%.

Expeditors International
Country: USA
Revenue: $8.1 billion
Growth: 17.6%

With its slogan “You’d be surprised how far we’ll go for you,” Expeditors helped bring in revenue of $8.1 billion throughout 2018. It operates in 250 locations across six continents and was founded on Lantau Island in July 1981.

Dascher
Country: Germany
Revenue: $7.6 billion
Growth: 9.8%

Beginning as a family-owned business in 1930, Dascher’s revenue of $7.6 billion was helped by its 83.7 million shipments throughout 400 global locations in 2018.

CEVA Logistics
Country: Switzerland
Revenue: $7.4 billion
Growth: 5.2%

When TNT Logistics and EGL came together in 2007, it was always going to create a large company that was competitive in the industry. Despite its short history, CEVA Logistics brought in $7.4 billion in revenue in 2018.

Sinotrans 
Country: China
Revenue: $6.8 billion
Growth: 0.7%

The highest ranked Chinese firm on the list is Sinotrans, a company which operated with a revenue of $6.8 billion throughout 2018. The company also ranks as one of the top Global Logistics Providers. The business was formed in 1950, and it is currently the biggest integrated logistics provider in China.

Panalpina
Country: Switzerland
Revenue: $6.2 billion
Growth: 9.7%

Despite being smaller than many of its competitors, Panalpina is a strong challenger in the market. Operating in 80 countries around the world through air and rail transport, the company has more than 15,000 employees and saw revenue of $6.2 billion in 2018.

SNCF Geodis
Country: France
Revenue: $5.9 billion
Growth: 1.7%

The French company SNCF Geodis has been aided in recent years by its purchase of a number of different smaller firms such as One Source Logistics in June 2011, and Pharmalog and GLS France later in the year. Much of its growth has come since 2010, with an annual revenue reaching $6.2 billion in 2018.

Gefco
Country: France
Revenue: $5.7 billion
Growth: 12.8%

Gefco is owned by PSA Peugeot Citroen. Operating 400 international routes, the company ships more than 28 million tons of freight each year. With an impressive growth of 12.8%, their recorded revenue for 2018 reached $5.7 billion.

Kintetsu World Express
Country: Japan
Revenue: $5.4 billion
Growth: 13.1%

Kintetsu is Japan’s largest supply chain company with an annual revenue in the past year of $5.4 billion. The firm has around 9,671 employees, and it provides foreign air and ocean transport of goods, as well as trucking options for manufacturers.

NYK Group
Country: Japan
Revenue: $4.8 billion
Growth: 8.3%

Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) is one of the largest and oldest shipping transportation companies worldwide, with 37,000 employees spread across the globe. Known for the scope of their shipping fleet, they currently operate nearly 800 ocean vessels.

Agility has focused many of their efforts on the needs of emerging markets. Today, the company is recognized in a number of regions, including prominence as the biggest logistics company in the Middle East.

Hub Group 
Country: USA
Revenue: $4.2 billion
Growth: 9.6%

Founded nearly 50 years ago in Illinois, Hub Group is now a successful transportation management company in the US, Canada and Mexico, with a $4.2 billion revenue in 2018. This mid-size company focuses on end to end visibility and up to the second insights to increase supply chain network precision.

Rhenus & Co
Country: Germany
Revenue: $4.4 billion
Growth: 7.4%

Formed in 1912, Rhenus now incorporates over 600 locations globally, mainly in Europe, Asia and South America, employing 31,000 people. In 2015, the Rhenus Group establish the Rhenus Pharma Service to pool together the pharmaceutical logistics activities of existing Rhenus business sites in Germany. The company also ranks as one of the top logistics companies in the world.

Bolloré 
Country: France
Revenue: $4.1 billion
Growth: 10.9%

The Bolloré Group was formed in 1822, boasting 81,000 employees across 127 countries. The company focuses on custom-fit solutions. Bolloré also operates one of the largest integrated logistics networks in Africa.

Samsung SDS Logistics
Country: South Korea
Revenue: $4 billion
Growth: 7.8%

Formed in 1985, as part of the Samsung group, Samsung SDS operates out of Seoul and serves a diverse range of industries including global logistics, retail, smart manufacturing and financial services.

Hellman Worldwide 
Country: Germany
Revenue: $3.9 billion
Growth: 8.9%

Hellman Worldwide Logiostics was founded in 1871 as a one-man business. Now it operates globally in 173 countries, with 20,500 employees and specialities in road transport.
